After nervously eyeing the jar sitting on the shelf over the sink for the best part of three weeks, it was opened this evening. The menu was dahl – lentil curry served with rice which is one of the staples that my wife does so well – in fact however, this evening she wasn’t feeling so great so she left it in my hands.
I opened the jar – everything looked okay. I pulled out a lemon and chopped it up and had a taste. The verdict – it may just have been beginners luck but the outcome was superb and I will be picking up a new consignment of lemons at the shuk asap.
The citrus, combined with the spicy but not overpowering chili pepper worked really well with the lentils and I’m sure that we’ll go through this batch pretty quickly – the next one will be a bigger jar!
